From the Pleistocene to the year of their extermination in 1627, large wild cattle, the ancestors of our domestic cattle, roamed the vast European and Asian forests. Aurochs. They were huge animals, the shoulder height of bulls varied between 160-190 cm and they weighed about 1000 kg.
I've tried to depict these animal race with the greatest possible correctness and i plan to use this sculpt to explore deeper into the theme of historical, partially extinct animals. It is amazing how many animals, especially the domesticated ones, have changed over time. Much of what seems natural today has not yet existed 200 years ago. Much of what existed 200 years ago is no longer there. Certainly, it's not entirely possible to fully reproduce every detail of a species that was extinguished from this planet 500 or more years ago. However, i consider it highly interesting to try to make the image as probable as possible. I do this already with the dogs and i will do this also for pigs, goats and sheep soon.
Positive side effect: since in case of height i've been oriented downwards rather than upwards (165-170 cm), this bull is also usable for the area of the Iberian Peninsula for the period after 1627. It largely corresponds to a breed known as Sayaguesa or Zamorana.
Good news is on the Scottish Highland Cattle. The testshots have been successful. The production is commissioned, if everything goes well, the works are finished by the end of June.
