Need an Allan Quatermain

Posted by PitYak Studios on 23 Nov 2009, 00:37

I'm doing a set of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen figures, and I'm stumped as to what to use for Alan Quatermain. So far i'm toying between a few different 19th century donors (revell acw pioneer officer, airfix wwi german officer in trench coat, italeri federal infantry guy in long coat to name but a few) but none of these are really close enough. I seem to remember seeing a white hunter figure (not the airix tarzan one) somewhere that would be a good start, but i might just be remembering my own 54mm Allan Quatermain I did a few years ago :-D

Any suggestions?

Does it have to be scale 1/72, because I know some 28mm RPG figures that would be useful for this subject:

Hah I love it! I'm busy working on an "archeologist" too, but converted from airfix aussies.

I'm trying for the Allan Quatermain as he appears in the comics; pose is not too important, as I've already a mix of action and static poses in the other figures, and it does need to be 20mm. I'm looking either for a figure in hunting outfit as he appears on the cover of vol 1, or in a trench coat as he appears on vol2. The latter will be easiest, but i'd prefer the former.

So now all we need is a picture of him on volume 1 or 2. There are a lot of versions of AQ and the books, Picture google the name and you´ll know what I mean. A link to the mentioned vols or a photo would be good. :-)
You´ve got me interested and thinking about this one

Like Paul says post a good picture here, so we know what direction you want to go. I have an idea but I need a picture, to see if I'm right.

Good suggestions, but I was thinking on the figure on the left in this set. Cut the gun of the third figure from the left, and it's going the right way I think.

What do you think?

Boers sound like an excellent idea, and cowboys; i've got the revell cowboys and have been considering those.

... as for a figure in a dress, Dark Dream Studios Pilots of WWI!

The pioneer officer is on my short list, but I hadn't thought about the imex officer, that might be worth a look.

I will not use strelets figures!
