Even making smartly uniformed units, I always use several shades. This is how it works in real world. Different manufacturers produce different tints for the same colour. Tints fade differently depending on exposure to the Sun, dirt, rain, washing… Many years ago, I was making a movie about the French expedition to Egypt. French blue uniforms turned into a kind of bluish grey shade just after three weeks exposed to the strong desert Sun. After five months hardly kept any trace of their old blue colour. White pants soon become of a sort of light yellowish ochre.
My point is that any fielded regiment, except ceremonial units or on parade, look non uniformed. Not to mention that soldiers take personal choices and customise his gear or wear it following their preferences.
I’m already working on four Union regiments non clad in dark blue uniforms
By the way, just know I noticed that the US marines’ flag is wrong. I’ll have to repaint the blue square with the right pattern.
