Long time, no see. I am back with a bigger diorama, I´ve worked on for the last 10 months. I have spend less time in the web and more at the painting desk. So this is the result.
The assault of imperial troops on a hussite town or fortress during the Hussite wars, taking place in the 1420s/1430s in Bohemia aswell as in the part of northern Bavaria where I am located.
I wanted to show the parallel use of old (trebuchet, ladders) and new (cannon) technology, which was typical for this period of warfare. I have made intense use of infantry shields. Not common for this time, but in siege warfare I think these items still made sense.
Best regards from Bavaria and have fun watching the pics.
I´ve used about 110 pewter and plastic figs for this work (mostly Perry and some Kingmaker), the guns and the trebuchet are thought for 30mm flats and are produced by Leopold Dietz of Austria. They fit perfect for this scale, but are difficult to get.
I check Wikipedia for Hussite wars. Came across Jan Zizka. Leader of the Hussite. I remember this name. And Bingo ! In my Dio shown on January 30, 2017 (Prag, May 1945) a Czech manned T34/ 76 get the name Zizka at the turret side.
So there is history linked in Dio`s across the timeline.
This is what I call a comeback, wow.. looks fantastic and what a great scene you made here, love the colors of the figures, the figures and the way you did bring it a life. Respect my friend!

I wonder, how Klaus Kinski would have reacted, if someone criticized his decision for the assault or even asked him a question....."Leck mich doch am....., Mensch!"

So this is what you can achieve when you spend less time on the internet. Amazing!
Still, I'm happy for the time I spent on the web because it meant I got to see this wonderful diorama. It's impossible to pick out the best details because everything is outstanding.
On a less serious note in keeping with the silly season: The sixth photo down, Is that the worlds best 'party popper'.
I am happy as well to see that you are still in the hobby. To the compliments the other had given you I can add a "+1" really a great wow wow wow scene. So colourful and with so many details. I hope we do not have to wait so long to see some post from you here!
In my opinion an excellent composition with lots of things going on. I have just read ' Defiant unto death ' by David Gilman. Not quite the same thing but a 100 years war epic no the less.
I would have made the troops filthy as hardly anyone washed in those days never mind cleaned their kit but this is lovely.
