Tobruk, is the style of bunker as well as the port in North Africa, this style of bunker was first encountered by the allies at Tobruk , but was used by both German and Italian armies in static defense lines everywhere including all the static lines in France and Italy, so the diorama could be North Africa, or Normandy, or the Gothic line etc.
What is this for a lame troop. Sun bathing, smoking, intelligent standing around. It really does not look like the enemy is close. And on top, too lazy to remove the bayonet. I miss discipline here.
Cool work Michael, like the releax solders a lot, and the bunker is awesome. Could be a nice Normandy vignette, called the last minutes rest keep up your good work!
It's looking very good Michael. A very nice scene of soldiers relaxing in some quiet corner of the war. Perhaps near the beach? "Nothing ever happens here".
Thanks Allan for explaining the Tobruk reference. I was wondering when anyone in the North African place looked quite so carefree.
Well, the Atlantic Wall was the best place for German soldiers to be. Nothing happened most of the time (with a few violent exceptions in Dieppe, Normandy and Walcheren).
Thanks for your kind comments gents, And the explenations too. Indeed, most of the time, it was the best place to be for the German soldier. Untill Rommel arrived in Normandy, there was little to no defence in Normandy, and the troops had very little to do there.
Hmm, the uniform is the wrong colour, the era is not 1986 other than that the lazy soldier could bery much be me. Oh, add a beard, a beer and a guitar. Great work Michael!
