Italeri Rorkes Drift set

Posted by zulu`s 1000`s of em on 01 Nov 2015, 16:00

I notice on Hannants future release pages a set titled Rorkes drift from Italeri, I am quite excited by the prospect of the buildings being done in 1/72, although I am not expecting any new figures. Has anyone seen any images of this set yet anywhere ? . I asked Italeri, but the response was sign up to their news letter. Any further info welcome.

Some years ago I heard some rumors about it, maybe the rumors will become reality soon. ;-)

That is what I am expecting, but what I am interested in is how they are going to do the interior rooms and the thatched roof`s, and if it will be good to go from the box or will need additional work done to improve the model. Also will both building be included or will there be an add on set or two with the other building and mealie sack and biscuit box out walls etc.

I do not think that they are doing any interior stuff. And yes, maybe this is a combination of two boxes.

Good news, today I received an email from the company that makes the 28mm warlord games Rorkes drift. They have made the 1/72 version for Italeri, they have made both buildings and internal walls. What we do not know yet is what they look like and if both buildings will be in the one set. I am genuinely excited now, I hope this can go on my Christmas list, fingers crossed.

Just found some photo`s on Italeri`s facebook page, it is in the background of two photo`s taken at a trade show, with figures that I cannot make out, but looks good to me.

In the left corner of this picture you can see a part of a building:

Left top corner, I think this is the picture you're talking about:

An email from Italeri today, saying Rorkes drift is the next set going in to production, so I doubt we will have it for Christmas, but at least a good way to start the new year.

I found something on this set:

Link to the seller:

The price is, how would I say, spiced. 43,99 English Pounds = +/- 60 Euro's. I hope the two buildings are in it with some stone walls and sandbags. I guess the figures will be good old Esci.

It`s not, the box art and lots of photos are now on Italeri`s facebook page, the box art is a 10/10 the buildings look to be 10/10 and all the other stuff is old and as expected, but I am quite delighted with this, Well done to all in the development and production of this set.
