Russian Cossack

Here is one of my better attempts at sculpting! The figure was sculpted from scratch out of green stuff 2 part putty. When I was done I made a mold of the figure and cast a couple of dozen more and converted them to various other poses with different heads and weapons and I also scratch sculpted a dead figure also which did not turn out as well sculpted as the rider but then again I,m not a sculptor so I guess its not to bad for a hack like me. :?

Here are a few pics of the rough stages.

This looks great and I can see that you put hours and hours of work into this project... but I think is that flashlight on your camera "killed" part of overall impression... I'm sure they would look even better if you take your photos outside during daylight

You say you aren't a sculptor, but you're coming near by! Really like how you made these Cossacks!

Thanks! Peter Thanks guys!
Peter some attempts go better then others when it comes to me sculpting. I,m a figure converter and the sculpting started more as part of figure conversions trying to make small parts and sections on figure conversions.
I have only made a few attempts at sculpting whole figures and found out that sculpting is not easy and I don,t have the patience required to let work dry before going any further and tend to destroy all the work I did with my figures and finger prints.
Weapons and fine detail I just can,t get a handle on doing at all. I have great respect for the guys who sculpt all these great looking figures, it is amazing the work some of these guys can do and guys who do this is the small 1/72 scale??? I have no idea how they get it done! Like I said Amazing!!!

Here are a couple more of my attempts at sculpting, Like I said ATTEMPTS!

Very impressive what you have done and show us here. I think you really are a sculpter. There are some more guys who work like you and sell their figs.
