Hello,
several years ago I had started this diorama projekt. After years of "I must finish this someday" the day has finally come.
The Army of Florence on it´s way to the battle of Montaperti (which they lost). Main part of the diorama is a "Carroccio" (flag wagon) and a "Martinella" (bell wagon). They were used as rally and signal point for the troops and they served also as a mobile church service platform. The two wagons are towed by giant white Oxen, called Chianiara, the hugest cattle in the world, still raised today. The wagons are accompanied by knights, foot soldiers and a baggage train.
The diorama is one meter long and weights tons because of the intense use of pewter wagons and figures.
I apology for the unlikeness of Bavaria in winter and Tuscany in summer.
Hope you enjoy it.
Regards Thomas
