28mm Vignette "Sd. Kfz. 250 neu"

Model and Figures: Rubicon Models
Building: Blackdog Miniatures (1:48).

Hello,

I always liked the appearance of the sdkfz 250 halfrack, with it´s simplified shape. So I decided to do a vignette in 1/56 scale. Rubicon´s model is very good in detail and quite simple to build (about 1 hour).

Figs were painted with AK Interactive Set "Fieldgrey Uniforms", but now I think they are a bit dark….but OK.

The Rubicon figures are a brand (together with Oniria) with realistic human proportions. Sculpting (CAD) for their stuff is excellent, but the figs provided with the vehicles are not good, detail is very blurry. In contrast the extra figure sets from Rubicon are great, with crisp and sharp details. But there is some historical inaccuracy. Figures wear "Knobelbecher" (early war boots), but have other details of late war uniforms. They wear also a strange, little rucksack beyond the tent roll. This is a late war scene, somewhere 1944 or 1945, so I think everything was used in the German army.

The resin ruin by Blackdog is a great piece. I did some additional detailing, adding some sand and rubble. It is sized 10x15cm, so it fits very well into every common picture frame.

This was a fun project, and it took me just a week to finish it.

Regards from sunny (but too dry) Bavaria

:-D Thank you Chris. I know you are also a fan of outside photos. I especially admire your smoke effects in dioramas. We talked about it at the Dioramica 2018 (when the world still was normal)….but I didn´t have purchased the "disco machine" yet.

You guys keep messing with my head posting color war photos pretending to be models. I know it;s a conspiracy, nobody is this good at modeling, painting and photography. Oh wait, there is. Amazing work sir!

Thank you Sir. I think real sunlight is better than every daylight lamp….and real sky a better background than a picture. :-D

Best regards Thomas

Well Thomas, you're one of rare people who can take photos outside in direct sunlight and that it still looks good.
