1:76 Airfix Guards Sets

Posted by Santi Pérez on 17 May 2024, 19:53

Today I received an email from Hannants informing me that the Airfix Guards Colour Party and Guards Band sets are now available in their online shop.

Great news, at least for me. :winky:

I will have to wait for both sets to be received by online shops in other European countries to make it cost-effective for me to order them by post. ;-)

I think that in the new reissue the figures have been made in red colour, right?

You got it right, Owen. Although, for a change, the figures will first have to go through a conversion process before the final painting.

I finally received my Airfix Guards sets yesterday. :winky:

And the first thing I did was to check the quality of the plastic, thinking about possible figure conversions involving cutting. Fortunately, it passed the test quite decently.

They do look very basic but I was wondering about using them as ‘dollies’ for an Austrian military band.

We shall see.

Childhood memories come flooding back.

Best wishes,

That's my same intention, Chris, but in my case representing the music unit of the Spanish Royal Guard together with a small infantry unit of the same corps. I think a good painting can help to improve the very basic level of modelling of these figures.

I think I can see some detail in the hats and heads, I suppose the flat clothing is fine, they're just neatly iron and pressed. We're going to see a Santi update soon...
