Although naval modelling is not one of my favourites, it's always a pleasure for the eye to enjoy the superb ships and crews of the Ancient Ages born from the mastery of Mr. Cryns. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

My respects, Sir! :-)

Thank you so much for the nice feedback dear M C Dodson, Mabo, Santi Pérez, Ben90 and Conrad.

New in 2024 and already available are two scale 1:72 Germano-Roman dugout canoes based on the archaeological finding nr.5 at Zwammerdam, Nederland. Paddling and punting Germanic crew members are in the planning and will be available later this year.

These boats look good, and the rowers look even better!

And it is a great advantage for the diorama builder that you devise your ship and boat models complete with crew. I always find it frustrating when ship models come without any accompanying figures; Zvezda for instance could have provided some generic crew figures for their ancient war galley series, but unfortunately didn’t bother. And the Roman sailors set by Orion, for many years the only available set for such purposes, does not really convince me…

Crynsminiaturen is preparing a new range of scale 1:72 Nelsons Royal Navy Sailors for the period 1795-1805 (from Genoa till Trafalgar) It is in coöperation with Wolfgang Meyer/Geschichte in Miniaturen with its new diorama project The Passenger which will be a combination of landscape, figures, boats and ships.

Here is a preview of Royal Navy rowers in different poses. Its a testcast in resin due to matching rowing boats with rower figures before the production process starts. The final sets of sailors will be available in white metal.

In the future planning are:
Sailors pulling ropes
Sailors pushing the capstan
Sailors in the mast
Sailors cleaning the deck
Sailors repairing the ship
Sailors rowing boats
Sailors loading the ship

As I'm sure you know, there's still a bit of disdain offered about 1/72 figures in the wider (& larger) figure society.

If anyone ever sneers about "our" scale, I direct them to your impeccable sculpting & the painting of several of Bennos' master-painters.

That shuts them up!

My wee nephew found out with my stuff that he really likes to paint figures, and the next time he wants to paint even more! What else can you do more as an uncle, hehe. :xd:
