Some lovely poses in that set.

From a commercial perspective, I question whether this would be a profitable set for Linear-A. How many people will need more than one set of these? I'm under the impression a company has to sell several thousand sets to cover costs and make a profit, and is that likely on sets where the consumer doesn't need more than one set?

Your thoughts are quite right, I think. But in this case Linear-A has written on thier website, that the sets with the centurios and standard bearers will be produced in a reduced number. And as always, there will be no reissue of any set.

I admire the enterprise of this manufacturer in producing such varied and indeed specialised sets of ancient warriors.

Whereas I definitely do not need 40+ new Roman 'centuriones', I'd be inclined to buy this set just for the artistry of the figures (based on the illustrations) and to support the ventures of this company. Well done to Linear A !!

I recently received a package of the two Byzantine foot sets from Michigan Toy Soldier, although my Justinian and Theodora are still on back order. I *wish* they would get some Byzantine cavalry on the schedule…

I know they're stylistically different from the Linear-a sculpts, but the late roman mediun and heavy cavalry from HaT

Ugh, four figures of each of the centurions, standard bearers and musicians seems a bit over the top to me. I think it would have been better to put them all together in a single set. It would be more economical and more adjusted to the real needs of wargamers and diorama makers.

Yes ! this is my only "problem" with recent linear policy : they started so many timeframes lines, wich cointain each very numerous sets (wich is twice a very good news !), but then you have to wait for litterally years before enjoying the complete list of sets.
It is no scoop that i'm waiting for them to complete my justinian army since... 2020 i think when they announced it.
They issued three wonderfull sets (Justinian himself, court and bodyguards and infantry), but cavalry didn't even start its modeling, the Nika crowd is now stucked for years, and the Goths opponents will be surely available in a couple of years according to their pace.

So yes, i think they are a quite considerable bunch of collectors waiting for their byzantine cav ! :xd:

Two other upcoming sets are progressing...

056 - Neo-Assyrian Empire Set 1 Infantry 911-605 BC kisir sharruti

084 - Neo-Assyrian Empire Set 5 Infantry 911-605 BC kisir sharruti, sa sepe

Actually, set 56 mainly features (heavy) archers.
A very good development which I would also like to see for other combatants from antiquity to the Middle Ages.
Wouldn't mind specific sets on Cretan, Persian or Parthian Archers in their respectively distinctive look.
Same with Thracian, Agrianian & Persian Peltasts or even Balearic Slingers.
Some of these subjects would surely deserve a corresponding portrayal in 1/72.
There is so much more to depict about early long-range warfare than just English longbowmen of the 100YW. ;-)

Why names in a dead language are being added is beyond me, particularly considering the already unnecessarily long and confusing box titles/names. :eh:

Overall, useful and attractive enrichments to the respective subjects. :yeah:

Oooh- these look nice. I've been eyeing the HaT Assyrians, but I might have to wait.

Haha, maybe they did it for flavour? Give the box sets a taste of the period?

I quite like the look of everything new, the Assyrians and limited edition Romans. I'll be getting all of these. Now, to find the time to paint everything...
