HaT Prussian crowdfunding has moved up a stage

Posted by Marc the plasticsfan on 19 Jan 2017, 16:06

Glad to see the orders/pledges must be happening, as the progress bar has moved from 6 to 7 (out of ten) and HaT are talking 4 bonus figures.

I am excited by this, as I want to supplement my Airfix Prussians, and I hope anyone else interested in Prussian landwehr has considered making a pledge/paying.

I appreciate people have various views on whether crowdfunding is a good or bad thing, but for me, if it means a set can get made, then I am supportive. I would love not to have to pay up front, but I recognise the world has changed for HaT.

Hopefully they will make it past the quota for production, it seems to be going steady so far. I was hesitant at first, but in the end I thought why not and ordered 3 marching sets and 2 Action sets.

Looking at the 1/32 Prussian Landwehr painted miniatures it looks like they could be used as Russian Militia also.

Well - I wish you good luck with it, folks. Hope to see your painted figures anytime soon.

(...and I hope the 1/72 figures look better then those in 1/32. Sorry, it's my personal taste but for figures in that scale, the sculpting looks terrible, bended muskets included. )

Just quoting a post from Hat's forum member 'Brian' who has been providing some interesting ideas for future potential conversion options:

"The Prussian Landwehr have good potential for lots of conversions you could paint them as Napoleonic Russian Militia

http://www.hat.com/Othr8/Birault07P.html

or how about Austrian Landwehr with a head swap
http://www.napoleon-series.org/images/military/organization/Eder/Eder2b.jpg

or if you swap their heads with Hat's Peninsular British Infantry you get these

Image

The 2nd Landwehr Infantry Regiment of Silesia wore stovepipe shakos at Waterloo

and if you then swap the Prussian Landwehr heads onto the Peninsular British Infantry you get Hanoverian troops for Waterloo many of which were not issued shakos and wore simple caps like the Prussian Landwehr such as these

Image

Could be time to place or top up your order we appear to be stuck on stage 7 and as you may remember every little helps"

A few of people have mentioned that crowdfunders will get some bonus figures. It seems like there will be about 4 or so special figures.

One proposed is a Landwehr Pioneer, another a Hornist (although the action set already would feature such a figure) a NCO and possibly a few more privates.

In my view I think there should be more officer choices as bonus figures, such as the mounted Landwehr officer that had been featured in the original master figure photo's.

But I am not an expert in this era so what would others like to see as special bonus figures?

There's an excellent Landwehr officer in the mounted Napoleonic officers' set anyway - so why produce one more? What would probably be a good choice (and definitely something unusual in 1/72) is to add a rifleman - as the line regiments, Prussian Landwehr units had detachments of volunteer riflemen (Jager/Jäger) with them.
Equipment doesn't differ much, but the armament is different.

I like the image of the Jager, would snipping the muskets and a bit of paint make them look like rifles?

Hat have set up a poll on which bonus figures to produce. Out of the ones proposed I like the officer and the Aide de Camp.http://pub19.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=1619281253&frmid=6&msgid=949236&cmd=show

About HAT 1/72° scale figures, Do you suggest crowdfunding for napoleonic russians infantry and french post 1812 (8234/8294/8296/8297) too!??

I get ready for that +1 landwehr

but also for +1 russians + 1 french (the 4 boxes)

Best regards from France

@ToneTW

Well... the difference is about 30cm. Look here for details:

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infanteriegewehr_M/1809#/media/File:Berlin._Spandau._Citadel_038.JPG

You could under certain circumstances just cut the musket down. But due to the fact that the balancing of a shorter weapon is different to that of a longer weapon, the figure will surely hold the rifle in an odd position.

@Goldfinger, I get the impression that the French sets were at the test shot stage, to be released without crowdfunding? I could be wrong.

I'm hoping for the Austrians to be advanced along the queue.
