Number of Figures Working on at a Time.

Posted by Waterloo on 15 Mar 2008, 16:29

Hey everyone.
I was just wondering how many figures you paint at one particular time. And are they all the same type, or do you paint a few figures of various boxes and types. Just curious to compare. I paint about 30 foot figures at a time, usually trying to swtich back anf forth between allied and French for Napoleonic.

Thanx

Colin :-)

30!... that's not possible to me.
well I now paint mainly mounted figures. each time start with 5 horses then reduce this number to 3 to finish all details and then begin to paint riders one by one... :horse:
one time I was told that I should have been shamed by this poor speed.

Hi, at this moment I an working on a small project of 200 figures at the same time.
French Nap infantry of HäT (grenadiers/voltigeurs and fusiliers), Italeri and good old Esci.

Image

Just in the stadium of painting faces.
Those are for a big static diorama of Waterloo.
During the attack of d' Erlon these figures will represent the 85th Rgt. forming a square after seeing Allied cavalry.
I 've cut away the bases, drilled a small hole in one of their feet, heated a pin and smelted into the hole.
When the figures are placed they are standing very natural in the grass (or mud).

Hi Colin, when you paint your figures, what kind of paint do you use?
I use Vallejo Model Color. And I am very satisfied with it. I just paint straight on the figure.

Hi Martin

I use a variety of paints. I use some craft acrylic paints from my local craft and hobby store. They work good for large areas of just plain colour. I too have tries the Model Colour paints and I like them a lot. The reds work really well to be the tunic colour fro my British infantry at Waterloo. Unfortunately those kind of paints are very hard to get over here in Canada. The few I have I actually got when I was in the Netherlands. Oh, and I too just paint directly onto the figure. No priming for me. I don't think its needed most of the time.

Hi Colin.
How luckily for you; I've got a webshop and sell Model Color paint.
But the Euro is a very hard currency at the moment.
I'll send you a personal message.

Hi guys,

I've always got a lot of projects working on at the same time because i always lose my concentration if i paint at lot of figures at the same time. I still have got to finish some rebels and saracens for example that i started of 6 months ago

So i would say that 5 is my maxinum also.

Later
