SYW French on the march

Posted by Ochoin on 20 May 2024, 01:11

I really love my SYW French army. They rarely win but they have colour, presence, panache.
Anyway, on display:
19 infantry battalions, 8 cavalry regiments, light troops, artillery etc:

Far too many figures but you have to like the flags!

All looks great Donald.

I would have loved Strelets to have had a go at the SYW range, as based on their WSS output, they would have smashed it. Alas not to be.

Now that is what I would call a very beautiful army indeed donald!
Congratulations and never mind their poor performance on the battlefield, in terms of style (at least) they’re definitely a tough army to beat!

Such a fine army Donald. That is a lot of time and effort to produce such lovely results. Those tricorns grow on me the more I see them.

I should remind myself that when the SYW French lose a game, it's actually me that's lost!

Thanks for the kind remarks. Sourcing figures from a range of manufacturers & putting together an army is, for me, one of the joys of the hobby.

An excellent display indeed.

I am amassing Austrians but it’s a long haul.

Best wishes,

Chris

SYW? Yes, it is a bit laborious. I very much like the HaT infantry & the Revell artillery is great.
And there it about stops. I also have 3 units of Grenz, various Hussars & cuirassiers but they were all difficult to source/complicated conversions. My last conversions were Hungarian infantry - not too hard & they look so good IMO.

I would love to acquire a SYW Russian army but I'm waiting till one or more manufacturer provides all the troop types needed.

I think I'll be waiting for some time.....
