Vignette Morris CS9 in the Desert

Posted by JurgenH on 21 Apr 2024, 20:09

Hello all
Here are the final pictures of the Morris CS 9 amored car in desert feeling.
The kit is from Planet Models and of good quality as far as the details are concerned. The instructions are OK, except for the colors. The BS is only suitable for advanced modelers.

I have built a small base for it, again on a table leg and based on an original photo.
Have fun with the pictures.

The dessert camouflage of the parasol is improvable.
Nice pic, made into a small Dio.

Very nice composition with a different subject matter.

The vehicle is lovely and the crew compliment it well.

The parasol is, as stated, a victim of the cameras gaze, but overall, it’s very nice indeed.

Best wishes,

Chris

Hello
The parasol is built this way on purpose. I tried to catch the eternal desert wind. In addition, it is not easy to paint circles on uneven surfaces. It took me almost 1 hour to paint the umbrella.

Peter: ise 2 Figures from Strelets. Brit Tanker in mediteran uniform , and 2 figs from Revell. There are converiert.
to see on thread WWII figurs. The DAK figurs are in Progress . I think "only§ painting.

It can't be more British: to take a beach parasol in your armoured car to the desert, so you can have a decent cup of tea in the shadow at any moment!
Great how you made this marvellous picture into a very attractive vignette, Jürgen.
The Caunter scheme is one of my favourite camouflage schemes, and you executed it very well on this nice outdated but beautiful armoured car.
Now one question: what did you use as a base for the vignette?

Hello Huib
I'm pleased that you and they like the two vignettes.

I took an old table leg from the javelin waste. Sawed it into smaller pieces, drilled a hole through the middle 8mm. I put a long M6 screw through it. Then clamped in a drill press to remove the old paint. With a file or chisel you can make additional recesses. Sanded down with 60, 180 and 320 emery in the drill.
Finally treated with water-based stain and clear varnish.
