Wellington and his Staff

Posted by Captain Sibourne on 15 Jan 2024, 11:17

I've been working on Wellington and his staff. It turns out there was a lot more of them than I had imagined. They stand near the cross roads by the famous elm tree, with a square of the KGL behind. The staff consist of his senior officers, ADCs, extra ADCs, foreign observers and orderlies.

Very nice as previously stated.

You do seem to have a lot of ( manufacturers ) Wellingtons around!

Excellent stuff as standard.

Best wishes,

Chris

Fantastic work James! This will certainly be a center of focus like Mt St Jean, Hougemont and Napoleons hq. I love the contrast of the Russian and Prussian attaches to their British counterparts. I would feel more comfortable knowing a square of KGL were nearby just in case too).
Cheers,

Thanks everyone, my thinking on the multiple Wellingtons is that lots of his staff wore similar blue half-cloaks so as long as the Wellington model doesn't have too hooky a nose, it seems fine to re-purpose the Duke as, say, Fitzroy Somerset. You couldn't do the same with multiple men in grey coats and 'a bataille' bicornes.

Sure Mabo: there are some Hinton Hunt, some New Line mounted on bigger horses, some Art Miniaturen, some Franznap Austrian generals repurposed as British, some Italeri, some Kennington, some Strelets, Odemars, some very old Rose figures. The Life Guards are mostly Revell. There is a Minifigs S Range. One Esci Hussar converted to be dismounted. I think there is even an Airfix aircrew figure converted. So just about everything except Hat, I need to add one!

Hi Captain,

Great as always

Lol! Thanks Michael. Quite a few of his staff dressed in a similar way with a blue frock coat and short cape. While no French officer would have copied the emperor by wearing a grey redingote and bicorne "a bataille", Wellington's preferred campaign dress was not unusual.

Superb work again, Captain.
And thank you for the additional information on the British "dress-code" of the officers during battle.
thanks for sharing and keep them coming
