They've robbed the bank!

Posted by Susofrick on 20 Dec 2023, 09:30

Some bla bla first. Got this idea when these came out, but they have been lying there, quiet in the hobby room. Then I got to paint them at last. Thought it could be fun putting them somewhere else in the world than the obvious Wild West. So I brushed up the old Sherlock Holmes-story The Boscombe Valley mystery, and decided they were the Ballarat gang! Wrote a little something about them, added Dick Marston from Rolf Boldrewood's Robbery Under Arms. And then decided to skip it all and just post them as bankrobbers in the 19th century. And now I don't have to explain what Wells Fargo are doing in Australia. :-D That was A LOT of bla bla bla. To the pics!

Robbing a bank is not nice! And a few days before Christmas, I can't believe it. Disgusting behavior!

But the figures look good, and, as always, it is a pleasure to read the background story you have provided. So perhaps Christmas isn't totally ruined yet this year.

You never did. Wells Fargo were an important coaching & banking centre in Colonial Australia during the Bushranging days:

Much more importantly is the subject, standard and atmosphere of your diorama. Highest possible scores on all 3 criteria!

Put simply - I love it.

Dramatic stuff indeed on the high street.

Nice to see the Airfix ‘ dying’ chap in action.

Good stuff all round.

Best wishes,

Chris

Huge thanks! It was great fun setting this up! Most of them are Strelets Mounted Boers. The falling guy is from their US Cavalry and his horse is some Crimean horse. Civilians are Srelets and Airfix.

Hello Susofrick,
I've always thought that the boer riders make great cowboys. You've proven it :-)
Wonderful toyful entry

Greetings

It's a fantastic diorama, Susofrick. All the elements fit perfectly into the nice scenery. And the figures are very well painted too.

Great work Gunnar!

If I remind me well Old Wolf Andreas used the standing boers as Wild West figures and now you used the "rough" riders! ;-)

And I always like to see those western buildings!
