Maurya-Empire-War-Elephant

Posted by Konrad on 01 Dec 2023, 20:02

After a long absence, it was time for an elephant again.
With my penchant for unusual and raret topics , I once again
ended up with our Swedish friends from SPEIRA MINIATURES.
It may sound a little naive, but I'm always amazed at what these
3D printers can do.
Nevertheless, I agree with some of my colleagues
who miss the charm and originality of handmade figures.

Below the pictures is a short movie for those who are interested in the topic.

Hope you enjoy!

What a nice model, and well painted too... is that an ancient species? It looks so much more tanky, somewhat warthog like, and near galloping stride. Looks like it wants to hunt for a battle. Pretty nice some of the biggest creatures are not really the most aggressive normally.

Very nice painted figures Konrad. Loved the additional history lesson. Wouldn't it be nice if some of our world leaders were to watch this video and decide to do what the Emperor Ashoka did, that is abandon war and become a buddhist.
Ps/ am i right in thinking you have painted a very subtle but ornate pattern on the saddle cloth? If so, i am astonished!!!

I'm sorry, but I didn't paint this pattern,
it's already on the fig.
Unbelievable, these 3D printers.
If you look closely, you can recognize the pattern.
Dry brushing with gold brings it to light.

Hello Konrad
What a beautiful scene you have built. The sophisticated choice of figures and the elephant are fully emphasised by your good painting. The bowstring of the archer supports the realistic depiction of the whole slide.

The original figures from Speira look great, but your paintjob has upgraded them to a highest level. Fantastic work, my friend. :notworthy:
