The Pied Piper of Hamlin

Posted by Michel on 21 Dec 2022, 10:36

The legend dates back to the Middle Ages, the earliest references describing a piper, dressed in multicolored ("pied") clothing, who was a rat catcher hired by the town to lure rats away with his magic pipe. When the citizens refuse to pay for this service as promised, he retaliates by using his instrument's magical power on their children, leading them away as he had the rats.

I want to show both sides of the story...the good and the bad.

Super Dio Michel! The figures are from Germania, I think?!
Great idea to tell the story in one piece with two sides. :yeah:

Thanks a lot Jan...!
The Piper Figur is a 3D File.
The Rats are from Busch and 3D Files.
The children are from Germania, Valdemar and 3D Files...

A great diorama, and such an unusual subject. Great work!

Did you build the very impressive gatehouse model?

Wonderful diorama, great idea and beautiful execution,
it is nice to see that such kind of topics are accessible today for our 1/72 range - maybe still tricky seeing all the brands you required to make a band of children.
As an alternative you could have made the rats and children walking the same direction - with the illusion that they transform when passing the gate :-)
Did you think about this option?
Cheers

No, Michael. This idea was to fancy! ;-)
So it´s pretty easy to see my intention, also for "visitors" on exhibitions.

Hello fellow countryman
You've created a wonderful piece there. The idea alone is great, and with the right, super painted figures, the tower really comes into its own. With this they can move from kindergarten to kindergarten and bring German fairy tales closer to the children.
But I think adults can learn from it too. I'm talking about commitments and agreements in politics, social affairs and business.

cheers and stay healty

Wonderful diorama, you're a master of the art. Of course I would be glad to be able to build towers like that, but I also like to "only" paint like you ;-)
