Sassanid Persia War Elephant

Posted by Konrad on 10 Dec 2022, 11:22

I found this magnificent colossus at SPEIRA MINIATURES.
The original manufacturer is probably called THE LAST OUTPOST OF EL KAVIR.
An unusual name for a manufacturer.
To make it look better, I added a few Persians from ZVEZDA.
These Persians are among the best figs of all time.(In my opinion.)
I didn't like the shields, so I made new ones.

Hope you enjoy!

Very nice work again, Konrad. Elefants are your new Romans, as it seems... :-D

These chaps knock your eyes out. Your work deserves a little sharper photography I will say. I know there's a mountain of details in there but I just can't make them out. Very cool elephant as well. Love Spiera's work.
Cheers,

I share this same opinion, Konrad. ;-)

I imagine that this elephant is the same one you had to remove from its original cast. I see that you have used your printed Persian shields too. All together with your fantastic paintjob make a wonderful diorama. :notworthy:  :notworthy:

I like the elephant, but I like the shields even more. They're rather spiffing!

Really nice painting! The detailing on the shields is fantastic (I'm assuming printed - has to be!) but well integrated into the shield and looking very natural. But I know the detailing on the clothing is painted and that is a knock out. Like Bessiere, I want to climb in a bit closer and clearer to the pictures to see all that you have done.

I love the sculpt of the elephant, the colours on the troops are so neat and vivid, a very well-done diorama!

Oh Konrad,
so beautiful colours again. On these Persians they look great (I remeber you use Marabu toy colours, mostly designed for children and teaching).
The shields are also quite impressive, even if you don't paint them. That is actually a drawback of 1/72 scale. Such small design - it is close to impossible to paint it (some very few succeed, but they must practice and one figure takes ages...)
Many greetings and keep well
Michael

Missed this one: Great work on these. Speira is a great company! Good figures and even better service is my experience. And tasty resin if you have a curious puppy around.
