My 1/72 fantasy project

Posted by 1Mac on 14 Mar 2014, 19:12

I know these boards tend more toward historical modeling, but I thought there might be some interest here in my 1/72-20mm fantasy project. I'm of course interested in the sets by Caesar Miniatures and Alliance/Red Box, but there's a ton of stuff out there that can be readily adapted. I'm celebrating 1 year of blogging about finding, modifying, and painting fantasy minis in 1/72 scale. I took this "family photo" of my work over the past year and a half in honor of the occasion.

Here's my blog. Here's a helpful primer for finding fantasy minis that work in 1/72. Thanks for looking!

Thanks guys! I've been lurking for a little while, but finally decided to post. I was a bit intimidated by all the historical minis, whereas I don't know a Hussar from a Hessian.

Anyway, here's a closer look at some of my more involved projects, all 1/72 models:

Good work  Just feel free to post photos of your figures whenever you like.
It doesn't matter whether they are historical or fantasy.

Thanks again, everyone!

The skinks are the 28mm Warhammer figures that you're probably familiar with, along with a D&D kobold sorcerer. I adapted them as 1/72 lizardmen, an idea I've seen a few different places. Here's how they line up with Sven the 1/72 comparison viking:

Very nice work! I think you are a little hard on Sven. He get to work all the time. Lunch? Coffee? No, not for him! Just work work work. But I think he like it.

I am a big fan of fantasy and fantasy figures. I have been thinking of doing some for quite some time now, just to have a rest from my favourite which is Napoleonic. I don't really do any other period, otherwise I'd be swamped with more figures that I could ever wish to paint!

These look very good and reminds me of the Dark Elf army I had as a teenager, mainly Ral Partha and Citadel (before War Hammer).

Food for thought. Thanks for showing and welcome to the forum.

Karl.
