Pajar Vegara Redoubt, Battle of Talavera, 28th July, 1809

Posted by Bill Slavin on 30 Jun 2023, 21:20

We played out the fourth of the five Talavera scenarios the other day, the attack by Leval's 2nd (German) Division on the Pajar Vegara Redoubt. This meant that I finally got to field my German Division troops which I have been busting away at for the past few months. So as the Anglo/Spanish commander I had both the pleasure of seeing them all on the field and also sending them packing. :-D

Here is the full battle report, if you are interested:

Nice work as always Bill with a lot of different units in action.

I have always wondered how anyone with a brain would slowly walk towards entrenched cannon frontally.

I suppose the troops were not given a choice.

Your troops and the scenery always radiate the ‘feel’ of the place and the time.

Excellent stuff.

Best wishes,

Chris

What an impressive table with all those different and well painted units!
I'm not into wargaming but this is a joy to look at.
Thanks for sharing,

Thanks, all. Yes, Chris, I can't imagine marching into a hail of canister. I'm grateful that they are only toy soldiers.

Bravo Mr Slavin. The perfect excuse to deploy the Spanish muleteers which in my humble opinion is one of the finest examples of 1/72 soldier modeling. So full of character and color. As Mr D said your games really do a wonderful job of capturing the feel of the land and time. All that painstaking work really pays off in your big battles. You give us a level of gaming to aspire to and hopefully recreate some historical period with the flavor and flair that you manage to create.
Cheers,

Thanks, Bessiere. Yes, any chance to get my Spanish muleteers on the table, for sure. I love that model!
The game got me nostalgic about returning to painting some more Spanish and getting them on the table again.
