As I'm busy introducing the rules to my pals, I didn't play & merely umpired.
Having a devilish cast of mind, I decided to place the Sea Peoples on the table & announce they would, potentially, choose one side or the other. This would be based on a dice roll & once activated, I would control them with single-minded ferocity.
Each turn, both players threw a d10, needing a '10' to activate their potential allies. As it turned out, neither threw a '10', until the very last turn when the Mycenaeans activated them in the turn the Hittites fled. Too late to do anything.
TBH, earlier intervention would have skewed the game & I had no intention of doing much with them.
But their mere presence effected everything from deployment , to the urgency both players brought to the battle - win before the Sea Peoples came!
Lots of drama.
