And again a duel is over, with a figure I would like to paint as well
Sorry to say for Mr. X, but he lost this one....
He was up against our Beligan friend Peter, who saved me becouse I couldn't find a member for this month, thanks a lot and congratz Peter!
I wish some others would enter the dueling field as well, it's so much fun.
If you are afraid to loose, there is no punishment, it's a hobby!
Please mail me at bfduel@gmail.com for a duel, just give it a try.

Now back to this duel, the blacklining of Peter's entry did it I guess.
The picture of Mr. X was better, Peter his picture was to far away.
But the voters did choose, so thank you voters.

Congrats Peter and beter luck next month Mr. X!

I agree in both aspects: although Mr. X's picture was better, the precise lines of Peter's figure decided my vote going to him.

My congratulations also for both duelers.

And I agree with both of you. I wish Peter's were closer. In any case, congratulations to both!

I've voted for Peter this time. Mr.X had better background and photo was taken from closer distance.
But Peter's blacklining got my vote. It was so good that even that strange background couldn't distract me from voting for him :xd: :xd: :xd:

Good job on both these figures. And one of my favourite classic sets chosen.

Hello, I too voted for Peter for the cleanliness of his painting due to the linen technique although I am not a fan of this technique.
Mr X also did a good job.
Thank you all for the fun duels.

Thank you all for the votes and the kind comments! I also would like to thank Mr X for another fine duel. That makes it a 1 - 1 between us this year! ;-)

Here some bigger pictures of this figure. I didn't want to show that I painted the buttons to.

@Dalibor: I just used the first thing that came into my hands for the background. And as I was doing the dishes I took the towel!

A towel Santi, not kitchen paper. Otherwise I would still be drying dishes.

Brilliant painting there Peter! Exquisitely precise treatment of the facings, very sharp.

Good figure from an old favourite box. And two good entries. Think I missed this duel. Just as well, couldn't decide which entry I should vote for. Great work both! And now I have learned something new, detergent goes on the figures after you painted them!

I picked Mr.X, I think the straps were perhaps a bit too bright, but the rest of it was well weathered, and more realistic slightly muted colors. the handle, hand and top of hat are some highlights for me.

In some cases lining can work but to me makes it look a bit more like a cartoon. This was a well done case and almost had my vote as it would show up nicely in a game piece type setting.

Thanks Jacob!

It is also a matter of taste I think. In the past I also painted my figures without the blacklining but I found them not looking good. Now I paint a lot of my figures this way and I like them much more. ;-)
