And now ladies and gentlemen the moment you've al been waiting for... (i hope  )

Now how do you get that incredible unbelivable fantastic roof ?. Well these next steps are not difficult... infact they are realy easy otherwise I could'nt do it. But they are extremely dangerous.
Now in order to continue you have to please your misses..... and if neccesary even twice :sweatdrop:

then when she's asleep go downstairs and be very quiet :sst:

then steel a towel  and please be carefull because if she founds out :whip:

Next you cover the house (the small one not your own) with the towel

Image

Now the n you just cut it roughly in the right size
Image

Then the gluing starts. I use watered white glue. I think about 50/50. Now you must use a lot of glue because the towel "sucks".... I just spread it on and push the towel into place.

Image

I always try to make it fit as good as possible, so bent it over the parts of the roof that stick out and fold it back. Then cut it and glue it and keep it in place.

Image

And let it dry. So this continues tomorrow !!

Well oke i did this yesterday so today i could paint.

Now the painting is also not difficult. But you have to use very watered down paint. I mix water/paint/white glue in about 60/20/20. Now keep the towel realy wet... i mean use a lot of the mixture because the towel has got to get stiff.

Here you can see the effect. For this roof i brushed upwards so that the treads of the towel stood out. You see what i mean later

Image

Here you can see that i folded the towel back to stick it a the inside of the roof
Image

Image

Next i simply drybrush with lighter colours
Image

As said with this roof the treads are standing out. Next to this one (the left one) you see the one where i brushed the treads al the same way down. this gives it a smoother apperence. ( i like the right one )

Image

So there you have it.

And for those who are going to start there own village i can recommend
Constrictix an co. (see below) Nice guys and very cheap.

Now here is the rest of the village so far. I'm still planning to finish the whole lot before i'm retiring........................

Notice the very lifelike gras.... (the green paper) a great idea of my youngest doughter

This is my favorite (although not yet finished)

So guys now i want to your results soon !! perhaps one day we can show the village in kampen !!

Hope you enjoid it

Good luck

Some really awesome work there, even by your normal high standards. I have a feeling I will steal these ideas one day in the future.

Hi Dykio,
Such "tutorials" as this one: that is what we are waiting for!!
It brings other to ideas. (they will steal it).
This is one of the very best reasons why this forum is so successful.
With work like this.
Simple but GREAT!!

Hope to see you in Kampen and keep up expanding this beautiful small village. Now a menhir grove.....?
