The Danish uniforms were pretty similar with the ACW-uniforms. There are some books about the war and some uniform plates too. I have a book somewhere with pics of the uniforms and I think Peter got it too. (or if it was Martin, don't remember. We discussed it some years ago).

oh, yes they were..
and a whole bunch of another uniform was, 'cause the (military)fashion came from France that time,
so the 1858 regulation uniforms in the Union army based on the compterorary French uniforms, and I am no uniform expert, but that must be the reasonwhy the Danish uniform look very similar,
they've just followed the fashion ;-)
cheers

Preben Kannik is the author of the book with the uniforms. Just one page about this war and just four soldiers on that page so not very much info, but good illustrations. And it's uniforms from much of the world from the late 1500s to 1960s. Don't know if it was published in other languages than Danish and Swedish, but here is a link to the Danish edition. http://www.bokborsen.se/Preben-Kannik-Text-Och-F%C3%A4rgill/Alverdens-Uniformer-I-Farver/3571729

i finished it and i only can say that it's wonderful!!! I learnt a thing too with this serie, Helmuth Von Moltke, who give a name to my nick, became to marshall of the prussian army in this war against Denmark.

There are lovely war scenes, with charges of cavalry, infantry, and bombard of new cannons of the period.

If you like historical facts, you must see this serie. I am in love with it!!

It was one of the wars Bismarck engineered to unify Germany. With the advent of modern artillery & rifles, it would of been pretty silly to wear gaudy, Napoleonic style uniforms.
