I started with the base and for reference I used some pictures of the region where the battle has been (30km from Harran):

It is a sandy to rocky landscape with only small plants growing around. It is mostly flat leveled with some rocky hills around. When the figures are positioned I gonna add some more plants. I choose to add a dried out stream, which formed after some previous rainfall:

Yet more top groundwork. I'm going to go and put it out there...I think your groundworks/bases may be the best on this forum (which is saying something considering how good all of the members on here are!)
