Han Dynasty Diorama

Posted by dombom on 08 Feb 2022, 21:39

I made a very simple Chinese Han Dynasty Diorama with only a few figures.
I used it to try out two new major things:

- 3D printing (the pavillion and the statues)
- Figure sculpting with green stuff: I did modifications with green stuff before, but this is the first time I modelled a complete figure (Zhuge Liang, the guy inside of the pavillion)

I hope the results can be shown (I'm not very good with taking pictures and there is no proper background, that's why I posted it in work in progress).

These for reference:

Modelled with green stuff (since I did learn something from it, I gonna improve next time):

The chariot:

And the final diorama:

Some additional background information:

At the end of the Han dynasty the three kingdoms period began, where the Shu, Wu and Wei kingdoms were battling each other with the goal of reuniting china. Zhuge Liang, the imperial chancellor and later the regent of the Shu Han state, was the most accomplished strategist of the era and is depicted in this diorama in 234, just before his last expedition.

It's a fantastic diorama, dombom. I like all in it: the figures, the chariot, the pavilion and, of course, the terrain. A very well balanced composition.

My congratulations!

Respect for sculpting the central figure. And I add my applause as well to the whole diorama. A rare topic, so I like to look at.
