Help/advice with Imperial Roman transfer shields

Posted by Edmund2019 on 25 Apr 2021, 15:01

Hello,

I am currently working on Early Imperial romans from Zvezda.

http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=1168

I want to apply some shield transfers. Has any one used any that fit well on these figures?

Veni Vidi Vici has 20mm transfers that may work, but wanted to ask here before doing any order.

Thanks!

Konrad is big ancient Romans fan... but I think he makes his own paper transfers.
Just browse his work in forum's Gallery.. you might find something.

Looks tricky to fit any commercial decals on the shields given the raised features.

I suspect my original Rospak decals would have worked (if the size matched) as they could be used onto any coloured surface.

If I were trying it. I would find a suitable image, scale to fit, check the background colour is close enough to a paint you have and then print on decal paper. Then cut to fit avoiding the raised details. paint the shield white, apply the decal, than paint in the remaing colour and then the raised detail as appropriate.

Good luck, I found it not as hard as it sounds

Hi Kekso, thanks for suggestion, Konrad's work is great with romans!

Fire at Will, I had not considered to do the decals myself, but I wil explore it to see if I can do it.

Thanks both!
