US Colonial Marines on planet LV-426

Posted by ModernKiwi on 25 Jul 2009, 01:55

I recently acquired some of Dark Dream Studio's space marines. They looked ripe for some modifications to make them like the US Colonial Marines out of the 1986 film Aliens.

So here we have them

"I sure wouldn't mind getting some more of that Arcturian poontang"

"I'm telling you, there's something moving and it ain't us!"

Marine with the M42 Grenade Launcher, 6 grenades in a revolving chamber

"Right on Vasquez". Marine with the M56 Smart Gun

Image

Image

"You picking anything up on the sensors". "Nothing, nada, zip. Sir, whatever happened here, I think we missed it"

Image

Image

"Sir, you copying this. Looks like hits from small arms fire. Some explosives damage, probably seismic survey charges. Keep it tight people"

Image

"Maybe they don't show up on infrared at all..."

Image

Image

"Apone, we can't have any firing in there. I want you to collect pulse rifle magazines from everyone. And NO grenades"

Image

Image

"Drake, we are leeeaving..."

Image

Image

"Farro, do you copy. I want an immediate dust off. I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. it's the only way to be sure".

Image

Image

"Who's Snow White"? "Some kind of consultant. Apparently she saw an alien once".

Image

"The specimens are to be kept alive for return to Earth for study. Mr Burke was most insistent".

Lookin good Chris! I can't see all the pictures but the ones I can see look great! How's the molding? They seem to look a little stiff, or atleast the first guy.

Anyway couldn't help but notice you are painting pegasus's USMC in Vietnam. Got any pics?

Modern Kiwi mate where did you get the "Colonial marine figures" they are brilliant !! i have looked all over the net and found nothing:).To be totally honest i did not really know of their existence until i saw them on here !!.

I love your modern stuff, used some of it as a basis for painting my own 1/72 plastics i collect Ceasar/Italeri/some Hat.i have lots of figures. My main interest is modern/future/post apocolyptic. So i like to convert.
Your "Terminator" was brillant and has inspired me to have ago myself.

Hope you/any one can help with the marines question,
Cheers 6mm tony

Luchs is correct, you need that Colonial Marines book, its great. The figures themselves are by Dark Dream Studio, and are called Space Battles. I have no idea when they were released but I think it may have been up to 10 years ago. Certainly I haven't seen them for sale for a very long time and only got mine 2nd hand through an on-line auction.

As you can see, you only get 17 figures per box, plus two (rather crappy) robots. The main conversion I did to the figures involved replacing the heads (mostly with heads from Esci's US Vietnam set), and modifying one or two of the weapons (adding grenade launchers).
