Thank you very much again and my respects and cheers for all the other participants. Especially "Arnhem", which had indeed the best face painting I´ve ever seen and to be honest I´ve never thought to win against Jon.

Here are some additional pictures of my "Sturmgeschütz". This vehicle was really the first tank. It had a "engine", a gun and armor.
The model and guncrew are from "Fine Scale Factory", a small German brand, available from CW-Toys. A few additional parts (an axe, the straps for the horse, a new horsewhip, the poles for the gunshield, a chain, the hammer, the little shield with eagle) were added. The accompanying figures are from tumbling dice and Revell. They are a little bit smaller than those from Zvezda.

While making the landscape I had the idea to make it look like in autumn. All my other sceneries have green leafs and grass, like spring or summer. So this is a little bit different.

So how did you do the grass and trees then thomas? we're all dying to know! Espcially the grass tufts- it looks lik eyou painted the tips with reddy brown paint- is this the case? Also the leaves on the trees are very good- how did you do those?

OK, here is how I did the terrain.

I´ve made the landscape my usual way. This means a compound of black and brown acrylic colour, fine sand, little stones and "Moltofill" wood filler. When this began to dry I fitted the figures and gun to the ground. This has the advantage the figures fit more well to the ground and don´t look like simply glued on. After that I allowed the landscape to dry completely. Then the models are removed again. The floor was drybrushed from dark to light earth tones. Then the trees were made and added. I took some roots from a fallen tree in the forest, and glued "beech leaves" from "Noch" (available in model railway stores) to the tree and sprinkled it on the ground to get a "autumn feeling". The tufts were added and drybrushed in the same brown tones like the ground. Added some pieces of dried natural roots....and then I glued on the models again....ready. Now I just had to wait for good weather to take the fotos.

I feel honored to have been able to compete with Thomas in the final vote, though the mine is a mere simple speedpainting job.

@chen: Thank you very much. It was also a honor for me to compete with you in the last round. You got that camo pattern of the German army very well. I know that, because I had to wear this clothing for a whole year

This was an amazing entry. What probably stood out for me more than the quality of your figures was the way you were able to bring out the woodwork on the gun.

Can you explain a little more how you did that? Was it just a matter of base color, wash, and then dry brush??

Hey Chen,

there is not so much to admire. Three months of basic training, especially medic training, then nine months of office work, sometimes sentry-services.... and cooking coffee.

After basic training I didn´t fire my rifle a single time.

Hey Chen and Thomas. I would like to say something about that camo pattern. A few years ago this camo was also used by the Belgian Airforce.
We had the funnie name of wearing "Smarties".
@Thomas: you're hired! Can you start tuesday with making coffee. After 25 years of service I still havend found someone who makes "good" coffee!
