General Wargaming

What rules are you using now?

Posted by Alejandro on 02 May 2010, 02:16

Hello.
My question is, what rules are you using for playing?

Here, the gamers are using FoG (Field of glory).

I don't like rules with a lot of miniatures and I prefer skirmish rules.

Have you got any rules for playing skirmish for the medieval period?

Bye.

I havnt played them but these rules get the vote of approval from many many people

http://www.ganeshagames.net/

The good thing about them is that once you buy the basic set you can get add on's for all sorts of historical and fantasy periods

i loved to play Cry Havoc many years ago. Easy game with paper warriors. The metal miniature version was to expensiv in these days cause you need 3 stage characters.
I m going to restart wargaming with the simple "Armageddon" Rules.
Based on the german RPG world "Midgard"

How stupid am I ?
NO answers needed, Zozan makes sure I know it exactly.. on a daily scheme..

Anyways, I forgot to mention the best game I came across thus far.
Look at this thread, and check out the linked rules documentation:
http://lasthussar.wordpress.com/2007/10 ... ame-rules/
"My kingdom for a horse" seems to be a very good medieval skirmish and 1-to-1 ratio type of game. I haven't played it, but the rules seem pretty good and easily customizable.
Best fact: It's free.

What do you think about it, mates ?
Marc

PS - Do yourself a favor and don't print it in b&w..

I'm writing some rules for Napoleonics and Medieval/Ancient.
As soon as they're done, I'll make a topic and anyone who wants them is more than welcome (they will be free of course).
Only a few pages long, and very simple.

I use Napoleon's Battles for large battles (units are brigades) and Lasalle for minor affaires (units are batallions)
Both rulesets have a god napoleonic feel! :horse:
