Royal Sedan Chair

Posted by Dad's Army on 14 Sep 2025, 15:23

Hi friends,

Today my 2 weeks of vacation is over, and we had some creative time in the evenings and on a raining day. My GF making cards, and I working on this fun one:
For me it was time to start on a Scratch project with a few of my many duplicate Asterix figures.
The hardest part is coming up with a good idea, because the figures are in poses that don't lend themselves to much creativity, but then I saw this picture on the internet:

and an idea was born:

Three figures that have been transformed into the main characters with a little scratch work.

The carrying chair is a complete scratch build, my first project with my Proxxon Thermocut.
This is how it turned out, not as well painted as you guys do, but definitely creative (I feel like a BB):

Hopefully you will enjoy this project. If you would like to follow the step-by-step instructions,

What an incredible vignette, Remco!

You surpass yourself with every new project you show us. I especially love your ability to turn the Asterix figures into something that at first seemed impossible to achieve. In fact, although I quickly recognised the original royal lady, I couldn't figure out who the bearers were until I saw the full report on your blog.

It's admirable how you have constructed different elements in such an original way, such as the carrying chair, the lady's crown, and the tricorn hats and liveries of the bearers. And much of this was done using PVA glue modelling, which I use so much, and finished off with a fantastic paintjob.

My very best congratulations, Mr Remco!

Santi.

Remco,
what I can I say, but "lovely, lovely..."
The lady looks more like Elisabeth II than Marie-Antoinette. Secrets of long life...
You nailed it again.

Thans guys, It was a really fun project to make.
Turned out like I had in mind, so very happy with the result.
Hopefully I can find another idea for scratch work on these Asterix figures.
I have a lot of them, and between painting Romains are these kind of projects my favorite to do, only to get an idea where I can use this figures (with bad poses) for...
If you have an idea please let me know, and with what figure from this range.
I will see if it can be done.

Thanks all.
