Eastern Front, 1/72

Posted by santifernandez on 02 Sep 2025, 17:26

Well, as many of you know, although I've become a large-scale painter, I started modeling at 1/72 scale, which is truly the king of scales.
This scene is one of the ones I'm working on right now, and the Su 85 is from Zveda, and the factory facade is from Mig Miniatures.
For now, this is the beginning.

Today I found some time to start coloring this tank destroyer.

Hi, Santi
You've found a wonderful BBO tone. I like it better than my mixture.
I'd like to give you a tip to make the monotonous green a little more lively. Add 1-3 drops of a skin tone to your paint and spray a little on horizontal surfaces. Test it somewhere else first. This simulates weathering. Paints fade faster on top surfaces due to sun exposure, etc. than on vertical surfaces. This is just a friendly tip, not criticism. If you like your creation better, that's ok.

I'm curious to see how it turns out. An interesting ruin. Which company? Which figures are you using? Sorry, I'm just a little curious.

I'm very happy with your advice. I'm going to do something similar to what you said, a zenithal chromatic variation, but with oils.
I hope to remember my old days as a model painter.

I'm mulling over the issue of which figures to place in the scene, but I have several brands: Hat, Italeri, Plastic Soldier Company, Zveda.

That tank looks superb, tocayo. I especially love the weathering of the surface.
