General Wargaming

After Waterloo

I've set up tonight's Napoleonic wargame.

The scenario (AI generated) postulates a French victory at Waterloo & a Marshal Ney following up the defeated Prussians.
Blucher is heading a rear guard but who will triumph?
We'll be using 'Valour & Victory' rules & will have a result by 10pm

Game over. We were pretty impressed by 'V&F'. The game flowed smoothly & even the one pal who'd never played it before was pretty proficient after a short time.

The excellent scenario allowed a determined French attack to finally push the Prussians off the position but it remained in doubt till the end.

This was our second game of the 'Waterloo - whatif?' mini-campaign - the same but very different from the first. The Prussians again were tasked to halt the pursuing French.
Again, Ai & I devised a scenario with a choke point involving a village & high ground.
Image

This time, The Prussians were very aggressive and took the fight to their enemy. By the end of the game, the right wing French were scattered & the Prussian cavalry, heavily damaged but still able to fight. just.

Image

Alternately, the French cavalry corps had crushed 2 Prussian brigades on their left flank & were poised to brush away further opposition.

In the middle, the mass of Guard & Line infantry were slowly crushing the Prussians opposed to them.

...and then it was sundown and Game Over! Points (3-2) gave the battle narrowly to the Prussians.

The Valour & Fortitude rules work very well.
