I think that they are 15mm, not 20, Peter.

Great work in both scales, Paul!

Thank you Santi for that kind comment and they are 15mm Buffalo and Stagecoach. However I do have the Nexus/Atlantic buffalo to be painted as well as the Imex stagecoach. Stay tuned to this channel for further updates.

Time for another Pony Wars update.
I will start this one off with a few shots of new purchases I have made. First up is some Nexus/Atlantic sets which I needed for cattle and cowboy figures. Sorry for the glare on the shots.

The next shot shows four 'Homestead' buildings I bought. A bit on the European looking side but will serve for my purposes.
Image

The next few images show my completed mounted Sioux force. The figures consist of Imex, the 2 Revell mounted warriors and one box of Waterloo 1815 Sioux which has 12 figures in it. These all seem to blend together without issue.

Next up are my Sioux warriors on foot. These are Imex and Revell figures.

Now for my first 'Issue' with the project. Having done a number of a different wargame periods in plastic 1/72 figures I am happy to report that most 1/72 kits are fairly close in scale from one manufacturer to another. However the shots below show this is not the case for my Pony Wars project.

Ooops I cut myself Off!!

Waterloo 1815 7th cavalry figure measured against an Airfix figure.
Image

Now an Atlantic figure mixed in. He is way out of scale and too small!!
Image

Compared to the Indians.

My thought was to include every figure manufacturer that I could but the Atlantic guys are way too small.

Thats it for now.
Thanks for looking.

You could use the Atlantic rider on an Airfix horse?

That may be my plan Javier. I am scrambling around to find some horses for my Airfix cowboys I bought, very small horses, and the same problem with the Atlantic cowboys and cavalry. Probably a Horse Round up is in my future!

I put Atlantic riders on Eagle Games horses. they look ok, then. PSR is down but here is a link to internet archive showing the horses. You could also print your own, if possible.

Great tip on the Eagle Games horses. I actually have 3 left over from the Zulu war project and I found a source for the Eagle horses. But the Atlantic cavalry figures are about 1/2 the size of the Waterloo 1815 guys...

I bought a few boxes of the Atlantic 'Far West' figures while a kid on holiday with my parents in one of the long hot summers in the 1970s, and I remember then that (a) the figures and poses were nice and full of action and (b) they were a fair bit smaller than even the OO/HO Airfix 7th Cavalry figures. I was a bit disappointed at the time, but the Atlantic figures stayed with me and served their purpose....and some still re-emerge in my spares box, for goodness sake!

This may have been the first time that I realised that 'scale matters' in this world of plastic soldiers!

I should also say that your massed Indians look most impressive - threatening and warlike as they should be. Great work!

Thanks Minuteman for you kind comments! I must confess I find the Atlantic figures in all of their 'Cartoonish' glory rather appealing?! But boy oh boy they are tiny! My only reliable stream of Sioux warriors is Imex and the Atlantic cavalry guys are way too small in comparison. Oh well life goes on.

Yeah, I think I picked up between 8 and 10 packs of the Waterloo 1815 US Cavalry packs. Dismounted I may just end up printing when I find the right file. Your Indians do look excellent!

Thanks

I fully agree with these opinions, Paul. I look forward to seeing the US cavalry soldiers who are going to face those fearsome Sioux.

Yeah, you bet I'm on the lookout! I can find Kepi's. But only Confederates with floppy hats. I appreciate the good wishes. The great thing about 3D printing is you can scale down or up. That's why I picked up the rights to SYW, AWI and FIW files. I need a LOT of SYW Cavalry. Some artillery and so on. The good is almost everything is available as a file. the bad is I will have to attach a head and 1 or 2 arms due to the poseable options.

Thanks

john

Hi Paul,
Nice Sioux figures!
Could you give us some more details about the wooden buildings, like brand and scale?
I think I recognize a Kibri model (the large house), but I am not sure. I really like them.

I've seen that Speira have some nice Sioux warriors with horses. Maybe it possible to speak to them about files.

hello raduhertza thanks for the kind comment! The log cabins are all Kibri buildings. I will be posting pictures of my wild west town in 1/72 scale which appear to be all Kibri buildings. I think they are actually 1/87 scale. I bought all of my buildings from EBAY already assembled. I may do some washes over them at some point.
Nice tip Susofrick! A link to their products.

John a question for you. Is it permissible to buy a file from a company and print out miniatures to sell to other people? I do not own a 3d printer and really do not want one. Hence my question.

Just a quick update.

I was able to buy these buildings off of EBAY all assembled and just how they appear in the pictures. In the future they may get a wash or two but for now they work for me. All Kibri buildings probable 1/87 scale. So I have a wild west town to be raided.
