Azerbaijani's cruising through the mud...

Posted by Xantippos on 24 Oct 2021, 14:58

I hope the title has catched your attention :P . Just realized I haven't posted these, and it's high time I did.

Really photoed as a background for the lorry (a russian Ural command truck), but I think they can be nicely seen all the same ;-) .

They are Airfix modern russians, ( first cold war now :P ) but painted with camouflage as the Azerbaijani army used recently, which they still use the same helmet more or less, which makes them a perfect fit.

I was going to compliment your mud and water effects, but I see that they are in fact the real thing! :)

The Airfix "Modern" Soviets used to be one of my favorite sets as a youth. You have done a nice job with them.

They are tiny, though. And too prim and proper to look much like the real thing. I think the camouflage helps in that department. Thanks for sharing these pictures.

They seem to have awefully high grass in Azerbaijan. Do they use specialized lawnmovers for those? :-)

I love the scenic photography, the real water really elevates the overall picture.

Many thanks :) . Yes Bluefalchion, they are extremely thin. It is even mindblogging how they could do such fine figures! considering the chunky Strelets, and how seems to be easier to produce larger figures, it is curious as to Airfix got it wrong on the other side of the spectrum!

Still, they are still nice. I believe the mould broke down quite quickly, as is a set hard to find and not very much reissued, as far as I know. I only found out on PSR, and later I could find them loose on eBay.

Some people says there has been highly radioactive tests by the Azerbaidjan army, resulting in weird effects on the flora....

You did a very nice job on these!
