Vickers Crossley Armored Car Model 25

Posted by Jaques on 30 Jul 2021, 20:52

Hi , friends.

This is the first 1/72, 3D model I'm building. As I'm from the generation of collectors before 3D printing I'm sharing this new thing for myself.

The kit consists of only 7 parts, including the wheels. When buying I thought: Quick construction.

As you can see from the photos above, the idea of quick build was an illusion. It took me 2 hours of work in the first stage of cleaning, cutting and sawing the model to make it look like this:

Conclusions so far:

1- As it is made in resin layers, they still do not have the quality of an injection model.

2- Robust, great for war games.

3 - Opportunity to have an unusual kit and not manufactured before in 1/72.

4- Construction requires a lot of use of blades and saws close to the fingers. A greater risk for over 50s like me who can't see accurately anymore so well.

Regards.

Jaques.

Sounds like a similar experience to my first purchases, same problem of age and eyesight

But ,for an FDM print that looks quite good, resin would be better (but more expensive)

Looks like a great model Jaques! That it is so robust is maybe because it is from 1925? :-D ;-)

One thing...it doesn't look resin, but FDM, which is usually made from various material like pet. If it was resin, the detail would be be a lot better and little to no cleanup. Did you buy the files for it, or only the model?

Hi , friends.

You're right, the model is printed FDM, not in resin, but I find it acceptable for €5.24 .The manufacturer is Portuguese and has 518 different models in the 1/72 scale.

For less than €6,- this is a good kit. Indeed some work to do, but I think a great model can be made of it.
