I still use conversions of Zvezda Saxon Cuirassiers (with Revell Austrian artillery heads) for 7YW cuirassiers.

Sir, I thank you.

I've gone down the same road with one unit but the effort!

One issue might be the horse furniture Strelets uses for these figures.
So: I should probably wait till Strelets makes a purpose-made SYW cuirassier.

Ochoin,

I mounted my cuirassiers on Revell's 7YW Austrian Dragoon horses. I too do just have a single unit. If you're picky you may argue that the coats of the Saxon Cuirassiers are too short for 7YW. I once saw a conversion using the lower body of Italeri Napoleonic French Dragoons, torso of Zvezda Saxon Cuirassiers and (presumably) Revell 7YW heads with tricornes. It did look awesome, but I couldn't bring myself to go through the fiddly cutting and glueing, and as far as I'm concerned, just changing the heads is ok.
If Strelets WoSS cuirassiers come with front plate only they might be suitable for 7YW. The braid is easily added if you value that detail and the cuffs can be trimmed. Turnbacks may be the main issue, they were already used by some nations during the WoSS (Hanoverians and perhaps Prussians and even Austrians), but not yet very common. So for a WoSS set I'd be happier if they'd have none, but lets wait and see.
By the way: Nice work and a nice trumpeter!

Many thanks. donald

Hi Donald,

You're welcome. Almost forgot one important difference: Prussian Cuirassiers had a sabretache. (And just checked my conversions to release I didn't add one ... oops)
A good and reliable source is this website http://www.kronoskaf.com/
Excellent for all nations fighting in the 7YW and good (but still under construction) for the WoSS.

Have a nice weekend

I don't find the figures of the Afrika Korps very appealing. Its an interesting topic, but the poses seem very stiff.

Hi MABO,

The red figures are all Italian WWII (not Japanese or German).

- WWII Japanese artillery or support weapons? (Italian WWII Desert Officer with Binoculars)
- WWII Afrika Korps reconnaisance or tank troops? (Italian WWII Desert refilling water - he is wearing the Sun Helmet with the crest at the front)

Looks like the Italians get a desert group to support the released DAK sets.

In fact, these were some hasty interpretation attempts by me, not MABO.
Partly pure wishful thinking on my part.
However, you may well be right. :yeah:
