Defense of Luzon 1942

Posted by Oleg on 06 Feb 2021, 21:29

Let me show you my last vignette dedicated to the defenders of Luzon. I used Mars 72017 set (not recommended, low quality and detail) the only set with 37 mm Gun M3.

One tiny gun, three man.
No wonder that they lost.

Very good paint job for that Mars figures. :yeah:
Somehow two of them remind me very strong to Matchbox.

Good old stuff. Matchbox was the model brand of my childhood! The toy shops around didn´t had Airfix.

Newer Mars sets have improved very well. But the older ones are just poor quality copies of other sets or figures.

This is a great little scene. The only thing I do not like is the sandbags….they look too static and too hard and do not "work together". I personally prefer home made sandbags made of putty. not very difficult to produce.

The kit's shortcomings aside, you made the very best of it. I like the paintwork. And yes, the 2 figures look like clones of the old Matchbox figures. Hahaha.
Keep having fun.

Nice vignette. Yes Older Mars figures had their issues, but was M1 steel helmet really available at Luzon 1942?

Not sure about Luzon garrison, but M1 was in use from 1941.
