Peter, back in the 70s I went out with a Veldhoven lass, loved her to bits right through the summer of 1975!

Meanwhile, back at the war, Jerry hasn't much stomach for taking on the Red Devils...

Meanwhile, back at the war, Jerry hasn't much stomach (their ears aren't much cop either) for taking on the Red Devils...

Image

Just because most of the figures come from the 70s, doesn't mean the Emporium hasn't grasped new tchnology...
Here's a CGI enhanced Parachute Drop!

Image

"Nicked Sheeshan Kamerad!"

The initial assault goes in with great dash, Gammon bombs destroying both vehicles.

Image

Image

The defenders at the north end of the Bridge are quickly routed, the Airborne troops making the buildings ready for the expected counterattack.

Image

The attack at the southern end of Veldhoven Bridge doesn't go quite as well. The defenders put up a stiff defence and stop the Paras in their tracks!

Image

The Airborne men are still being heavily resisted as the second lift comes in, the glider landings magnificently enhanced by the new fangled CGI imagery.

Image

The Gliders bringing in the Airborne's anti--tank guns run into a disaster of the first magnitude! Strong winds and accurate ground fire scatters them close to the village. Two guns, one the big hitting 17pdr are hit by Panzerfausts skulking in the buildings and destroyed.

Image

Image

Amid the mayhem the Paratroops hit the their D/Z...

Image

Lieutenant Colonel Harry Faversham VC, a Veteran of many a contested Bridge, use his hunting horn to rally the troops!

Image

The Paras organise quickly and clear the D/Z. The second assault on the Bridge's south end goes in.

Image

Image

Image

At the north end of the Bridge trouble is brewing in the shape of the 12th SS Panzers! Led by their CO, Obersturmbannfuhrer August Von Richter in person, they deploy rapidly and move toward the fight.

Two Fallschirmjager Officers have been attached to the Battlegruppe for liaison duties.

Another very good scenario, Harry. Nicely painted figures and vehicles, and good to see some familiar 'old' Airfix, Matchbox and Esci models here. I also very much like the low-flying DC3 aircraft.

Lt Colonel Harry Faversham VC is clearly a descendent of similar heroes from previous eras (some also sharing the surname). Even allowing for a liberal coating of burnt-cork on his face, he seems to have turned a little 'blue' with all that blowing on his horn. Hopefully he will 'recover' to savour the victory....Will he get a bar to his VC for this I wonder?

It's not Harry's best side, but he's a bit pre-occupied to pose properly at the moment.

Don't think Bob's overly impressed with the Parachute Regiment's new headgear!
