After quite a bit of work, I present two completed sections of the Plancenoit diorama. As yet, there is not a single figure positioned on the model, but they are in production. The tricky bit will be working out how to place them given the relatively dynamic nature of the fight and the absence of firm evidence.

I'd particularly like to thank my father who is the mastermind behind the buildings. There are 23 buildings on this section, more than the rest of the diorama put together!

Hope you like them, now starts the hard work of putting on the figures!

This is really starting to come together.

The homogeneity of the buildings give a real ‘feel’ of the place.

Nice groundwork too.

Best wishes,

Chris

Thanks Chris, lots of snagging to resolve and much more battle damage to inflict on the houses - don't worry, Plancenoit won't be winning first prize for "Belgium in Bloom 1816". Then we come to the troops...

This is very inspiring. I think it should be more common for us modelers and history enthusiasts to team up and recreate a battle/scene in 1:1 proportions, I think this "art" is the best humanity has right now to visualize how wars were fought in the past (since hollywood mostly produces overspectacular, inaccurate and too often miniaturized C.R.A.P). Keep going guys, you are doing a fantastic and inspiring job!!!!

It certainly is all coming together nicely. I hadn't realized how literal the symbolism of the church graveyard would be since a large portion of the Imperial guard would sacrifice their lives there or very close by. The Prussians on the other hand lost even more men than the French and made this battle a testament to their tenacity. Thanks for keeping us appraised as work continues. Regards, Bessiere

Thanks Bessiere, certainly the graveyard wall would have been the main strong point but as the village takes shape its possible to see its other tactical opportunities.
