Non violent figures

Posted by Dad's Army on 12 Jul 2020, 11:09

Hi all,

For me it's always extra fun to look at a fair for "non-violent" figures.
But now every fair is cancelled, I have to look in the internet.
Most figures are made with weapons, or fighting poses.
For a duel I like to find a new non violent figure...
Maybe you know a nice set, or have figures at home you don't want anymore.
I have seen some figures in England, but they have high postal cost for just 2 figures.
Who has a tip for me where to find?

Thanks in advance, Remco

A very general question, are there specific areas or periods you’re aiming for?
The very nice civilians included in Strelets imminent nap. Prussian cavalry are “new“.
Linear-A 023 - Hannibal makes a Triumphal Entry in Italy Set 4 contains civilians. Their upcoming Minoans & some of the announced Roman mini-sets will offer civilians/unarmed figures as well.
Tori Factory released an unarmed Tom Cruise/Top Gun figure recently...
To answer this satisfyingly, it would be helpful to know what exactly are you looking for? ;-) :yeah:

I´ll second that. A Soldier/military bod asleep, eating etc is "Non-Violent"
Civilian or military pose? I assume from "Most figures are made with weapons," so civilian? and seeing as there is a huge number of civilain bods available, a difficult question to answer.

Thanks guys, yeah I am always looking for "fun" figures.
A sleeping solder isn't my kind of interest, so let's say civilian.
But to duel I need 2 figures, one to send to the other guy.
I have been looking at PSR but it's not easy to find a set with 2 same figures in a nice pose.
Thats why I was thinking it would be fun to see some reactions, I can take e see at PSR and buy the set :) .
I know it's hard to understand what I like besides the Asterix range... sorry

Aha! But if you use bods from the asterix range for a duel it would be easy (50/50) to assume one of them is yours (?)
Quick look...
Linear - B. - Age of tudors
Dapol - Railway Workmen or platform figures
Linear-B Roman Transport
Linear-B Roman Tavern
Linear-B Roman Port - sets one and two
Strelets roman senate sets one and two
Strelets ancient christians
Linear A - The Folk of Judea
RedBox sailors, Italian, spanish or english. I suppose having a job as sailor doesn´t make one automatically a combatant (?)

Some maybe all too obvious suggestions could be:
Pegasus - Mission Indians
Pegasus - Gold Miners
Imex - American Pioneers
Imex - Pilgrims
Imex - Eastern Friendly Indians
Preiser - Refugees
Zvezda - Spartans
Zvezda - Egyptian Infantry
Zvezda AoT - Peasants with Supply
Caesar - Partisans in Europe
Orion - Ukrainian Foot Cossacks
Orion - Gladiators
Linear-A - Etruscans
Linear-A - Silk Road
quite a number of Nikolai sets
...
Surely, there must be many more options in 1/72 plastic, resin or metal?

Looking very much forward to discover which figures will be selected for future duells. :-)

What about Speira Miniatures?

Victorian civilians, ancient Roman dancer or medieval monks....

Hi Remco,

if converting is allowed you can actually transform many soldiers into more peaceful types of persons. Weapon carving is possible. Helmets or hats can be modified. Up to the 19th century soldier outfit followed a lot civilian outfit, OK at least into the 18th century.
You have shown us many times what is possible to obtain from a Roman centurion or an aggressive Gaul warrior. Same is possible for smaller guys.
Curious about this duel

Many greetings
Michael
P.S. And we all miss the shows

only plastic? because in metal you have plenty of choices. Valdemar, Nikolai and Hecker&Goros - to quote some - offer fantastic sets

Why don-t you buy 2 boxes or ask somebody who has two boxes to send you two same figures from two boxes...I can think of two figures one Janissares the soldier with tui, tui is not a weapon you have also horseman from Zvezda Spahi with tui, you have Jannisare from Orion with spectacles that is not a weapon...You have trumpeter from French WW1 Later figures from Airfix and another figure with pigeon from same set and two soldiers from same set riding a bike...

28mm is fine, too. So that greatly expands the options.

I can only advise you to surf PSR website, Dad’s Army. I know it’s a tedious job, but you almost always end up finding what you’re looking for (I already accumulate several experiences like that). :winky:

I agree with you and Wiking: "... always extra fun to look ... for "non-violent" figures". And I do the same than Wiking, if you don't find these figures, build them by yourself. :joker:

Anyway, good luck in your searching, Dad's Army. :yeah:
