Greys Revisited

Posted by FredG on 17 Feb 2020, 21:45

I just have to publish this so that everyone can get a chance to bid on these professionally painted Greys on ebay.

Please don't all rush to bid at once or ebay may crash.

Is there a link to these on ebay? I would like to do something with those circus horses.

You can learn something from this Fred! How you don't paint grey horses with dapples! :-D

Your horses are looking fine mate!

Egbert,

The horses are in what MrsG calls my bottle top display. They're waiting for the troopers and then they'll get the final modifications.

Then I think I'm going to need a lot of grass.

Peter, I saw those too. I must plead guilty to chuckling at the cannon wheels :P

There must have been a high wind, the same thing happens with umbrellas. But I can't explain the grey Tarletons.
I think I might be the worlds worst amateur painter of grey horses but just at the moment that seems sort of OK. I wonder if it's the professional painter who's selling these or the guy who paid to have them professionally painted.

Fred, painting that many greys all at once is a superhuman effort but I can see they will look heroic in the final result.

Answer 1.The Buglers had chevrons on their arms and bird's nests on their shoulders. These would have to be painted freehand.

Answer 2. The Buglers had the same tunic as the troopers. This is also the version in the Waterloo film and the famous painting. Unfortunately the only one on show in the painting has been shot, he must have played a bum note.

I may take the easy route and use answer 2. If the viewer wants to have chevrons then I'll leave it to their imagination.

i love this topic FredG,
including your wall cabinets, and of course the friendly banter a valuable feature of this growing Forum.

Those large pinkie white horses might have been quite green around their gills :( while still suffering sea sickness too, because they had recently arrived by boat from Great Britain a day or two before .They were rushed at the gallop to aid the Allied army before their great trotting encounter with the French upon such a deep wet muddy field.

:coffee: My white horses look like mice compared with the size of the light cavalry of today. BB

The troopers are now finished ( I think). They're all freshly varnished.

Now to complete the horses.

Did you note that the carnival greys on ebay were unsold (quelle surprise) and have been relisted at just over half the original price? Still more expensive than I've paid for brand new ones ;-)
