Zulu War

Very good diorama! And I think that, even though we Swedes are quite fond of queuing, you Brits beat us totally! Enjoying a bit of queuing while 1000s of hostile warriors are coming ... oh my!   :-D

The dioramas are excellent, they capture the action with real authenticity

Here are some Frontier Light Horse by Hat. Forgot to upload these a couple months ago. I've now taken a break from Zulu War. But I'm sure i'll be back to it as I've really enjoyed painting this period.

Well after a VERY long break from the AZW, I decided it was time to get back into it.

I've decided to post my new additions on this old thread, as it serves me a reminder that although my painting is nowhere near the supreme standards of some fellow members, I am really pleased with my own improvements over the last few years.

I've got a few updates to upload over the next couple of weeks, but I'll start with my Zulu regiment of married warriors. Thanks for taking the time to have a look and any feedback/advice is always welcomed!

Lovely to see you've got some of your zulus based. They look very nice indeed....... if i were to be critical i would say they are too evenly placed on their bases when i am sure in real life they would not have looked so orderly. With my own Zulu army (in 28mm) i placed figures on single figure, two figure, four figure and 6 figure bases and i think they looked the part.
My favourites are your Frontier Light Horse........ they look splendid. Can't wait to see more!!!

These look very nice, fine work Rich. The basing is very effective, and has a definite look of dry and dusty veldt with long tufts of vegetation.

I can't help noticing that the most recent batch of HaT re-releases seems to include unmarried Zulus; so you should now be able to source as many regiments as you need!

Keep up the good work :yeah:

Very nice although it’s a shame that some of the spears are bent.

If you dip them in boiling water to soften the plastic then straighten and set with a cold water dip you may straighten any future weapons.

Watch your fingers!

Best wishes,

Chris

Thanks Chris! Unfortunately I didn’t really notice the wonky spears until I was taking the photos…

A sad consequence of the horrible plastic used by Hät in many of their figures. Nevertheless, it's a nice Native Natal contingent, Rich.

I've been trying to upload some updates for a while, but the forum loads too slowly on my computer to have managed it. So I have few more photos to add, but I'll start with these...

Newline Natal Carbineers. First time painting metal figures and they were really nice to prep and paint.
