Most needed Napoleonic unit/figures?

Posted by Traveller1865 on 30 Sep 2019, 08:16

A question for all Napoleonic enthusiasts! What are the most missing regiment or figures that you would buy in tons? References would be appreciated..

Hey,

As you seems to develop an artillery range for ACW, my concern is the lack of heavy ordnance guns in napoleonic mainly 24pdr guns, mortars and fortress guns (I have napoleonic era plans if needed).
Good sets of guard artillery (horse and foot) are also a big miss but I think Franznap is thinking to make them (not sure).
I love your lifelike combat poses for ACW, it would be great to have things like that with infantry from different nations as we start to have Marching/standing poses from Strelets and Hat.

Thanks for the feedback, you're right that even with many artillery sets out there some are still missing, so noted. We have planned some conversions to British infantry at first so hopefully the lively poses can be transfered to Nap era.

And we do really miss good armies for early campaign, I'm talking about italian campaigns of the end of the 1790's, russian in helvetian campaign, Prussian troops for rev. war and 1806 war...
As far as I know, no one is making a descent 1806 prussian army... (Hat's range of 1805/1806 are not realy matchable with other brands IMHO)

Yes Revolutionary war is something I've wanted for some time, along with the French Revolution sets with the guilotine that has been waiting for ages to be completed. A lot of the ACW figures can easily be turned into many 18th and 19th century conflicts, but also need to be commercial, since it's expensive...

I would buy Napoleonic Turks and Serbs since there was a battle near my town I would love to make...And since Turks had no uniform regulation and Serbs had no uniforms until 1808 it is easy...They both had oriental style uuniformes... Here is for Serbs https://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%91%D0 ... y_1809.jpg

Hello Traveller,

thanks for proposing. I agree with all suggestions above: heavy artillery, siege artillery, turks, 1806 Prussians and Revolutionary wars (although here we have now many beautiful one in Hagen shop).
My suggestions goes slightly into another approach. You have the possibility to make more 3-dimensional poses - no mould. You can make many action poses such as :
- running
- escaping
- climbing
- falling
- close-fighting
- casualties
Such poses are often difficult and therefore less than perfect from standard plastic figures makers. I see your definite niche in making such specialized sets. They could be called "forlorn hope", "broken by cavalry attack", "in-town fighting", etc. The unit can be anything adapted to good scenarios. This approach opens many new sets. When the figures are exciting and the scenario not too far-fetched people will like it. Just look what happens with Streletz output.
Just some ideas

Cheers
Michael

Good afternoon Traveller1865,
Thank you for asking.
In complement from above :
- Artillery crews to complement the one we available could add more realism to the standard 4 poses.
- For cavalry, a lot of the Hat sets lack the trio Officer/musician/standard bearer.

I hope this helps.

Great ideas, some confirm what we already have planned. Can't promise anything but will try.

Those who know me will expect me to say of course "cavalry, cavalry and more cavalry"!

Pose-wise, I really like to see poses which are riders simply standing, at the walk or scouting, common activities for cavalry which are often overlooked in favour of dramatic and wild charging poses.

Wow this is one heck of a fun thread. Cavalry standing next to their mounts are not done enough.

Relaxed poses out of action are super common features of my google image searches but almost never are the figures like that.

Yep, pretty much along my theme - cavalry standing next to their horses is a really good call.

Problem with horses is that legs might be frail, but impossible, no.

A question, will this work for Napoleonic period, in particular the British? Or would you prefer the Springfield 1861, a bit more detailed but wrong era?
