French Foreign Legion and Marines

Posted by Marvin on 08 Sep 2019, 20:56

I'm one of many fans of the French Foreign Legion who have been eagerly awaiting the new Strelets FFL boxes. The idea of camel-mounted legionnaires is fanciful of course but I like the cinematic aspect of the figures and I think the camels paint up pretty well. :-)

As a twist, I painted the figures in the set wearing a pith helmet as colonial marines.

Really nice work, Marvin. So good to see all of these figures come together, and you always choose such interesting units to represent.

Often I'm into some fantasy topics. But when I see wonderfully painted figures like these I want to paint historical again.

Thanks fellas, am very glad you like them. :-D I think they're another very decent set by Strelets.

Thanks Gunnar - they are quite subtly sculpted but with a little bit of patience, a character slowly appears!

Your Legionaires look terrific and very nice idea to do the Marines.

The camel mounted figures are wonderful. If they're not historically accurate then they make you want to create some new history just to fit them in. They'd be perfect for a Pulp adventure or Colonial what-if... Or just for fun.

Lovely post!

Wonderful painting.
I also like the legionaries very much. Excellent work . Is an added stimulus for me to paint these Strelets figures too.

Regards.

Despite Strelets isn't my favourite figures manufacturer, you have made a superb work on these legionaries and marines, Marvin. :notworthy:

My best congratulations. :-)
