Speira "Let them eat cake"

Posted by Traveller1865 on 22 Feb 2019, 20:19

The French Revolution is often ignored in 1/72, however things are about to change. This will be sold at www.speira.net but not yet finished.

Hi Traveller
Like many I admire this new 3D printing technique and the possibilities it gives. On the other hand to me it is too precise (had the same problem with the Zvesda).
Here, personnally I am not so happy with the facial expression. I do not believe one second that Marie-Antoinette was proud to the last.
She was a rather « simple » woman, spoiled for sure, but without political instinct nor charism. To my mind she was a victim of the events which largely surpassed her. Now let us image such a kind of person being exhibited to an enraged crowd - yes we can still do this today in France
In my imagination she is intimidated and wants to hide.
Well, just my thoughts

Always interested to what you are up go next

Critical thinking about the revolution may place you in not so pleasant devices...

But joking aside, I think we can change the outlook on La Reines face, shouldn't be a problem along with the revolutionary women who will also have variations.

Traveller1865--

I know we can be a tough crowd, but the motivation is positive feedback to improve the proposed product, thus increasing sales exponentially!

Considering the great quality of your product, I found these national guard a little bit odd.
The musket sling is a bit large, as the blade of the sword.
The collar of the habit has to much foldings, it as to be more straight.
These are small details, but IMHO the main problem is the hat which looks odd

Please find few pics concerning revolution hats

And finally a well known portrait of a national guard, believed to date from 1790

I hope this helps, that's not a negative criticism.

Hi Chris, we took almost the same pics and some others as a reference for the Garde Nationale de Paris. The pic posted shows a Computer Graphic from a not finished sculpting only. Once the figures are in production, I/we will place some pics. Yours Oliver
