HAT PINS

I have found these very useful indeed. They are three and a half inches long and very strong. Without having this type of pin in my stash i could have never succeeded in making my castle parts.



Enormous pressure is involved when filling moulds up, and these long steel pins pushed through the rubber at differing angles held tight the pieces of my Two part,Three part,Six and Seven part moulds together while I cast them up. A round dozen for £10 is i feel a good investment
because of other larger works now being planned. i hope 2 C U Soon BB

I need four of these and four gates.

A BB Double Helping, But How ?
It would be simple to remove one.
Eh! But which one?
That sure is a tough choice for Wing Nut to work out.
How about the one in the middle?
There ain`t no middle de do with only two Pards.
I guess wing nut will be trying to solve this question.

Maybe you need dual posts to build a bridge between.

Using the arched gateway to convert to a bridge sounds like a good idea, I'm very interested in seeing this.

It is rather draughty without the wooden doors, but everything in its own good time.

For now the illustration is showing the drop from the bottom of the gate to the waterline of the moat below. There will be loads of fish in there. Good I`ll go cut me a fishing pole.
I will get the string and safety pins to fashion the hooks I`m off to dig for worms.
But there ain`t no water. bb`ill soon fix that. I doubt that. He`s far to busy putting that water in that plaster stuff. Good I hate fishing. Me a`nall.

THE BRIDGE PARTS



It will be a case of cutting castings to correspond with that extra drop shown ,and the pavement level of the bridge.



Four down sized castings will form the paving and battlements, and they all popped out of their mould quite quickly. It being the case that I poured a lot less mixture into it.





2 and 1 quarter inch from pavement to water level. It is this level that I need to saw off. Then the main parts of the bridge will join up. The bridge length is nearly a foot long so that's quite a wide open stretch of water to create. That will be fun.



I`ll need to trim the tops down further to just under that overhang line. That line defines where the pavement is on the top of the bridge. The metal ruler shows the expected water level. Remember that these are rough castings and they will be squared up and pushed against each other showing no gaps between the ends.





Added pointed extensions on the lower walls between each arch will seem to direct the flow of the deep water under the bridge. Believe me that effect will be easy to do and affordable too..

There are so many options with all my castle castings.

Upon the question of surrounding it. Eh?
A wet boggy dyke, a fully flooded moat open to a fast running river or a raging sea would do? Perhaps even a dry deep ditch or just a casual pathway meandering through a sleepy town, village or city up to the very Gates? `Knock & Wait 4 us to Nock A Welcome', it reads upon the gate.

This gate once stood guard at a spot in the old City of Norwich wall ,that would have been a stones throw from where I would live for nearly 28 years.. However it was demolished in
1896 thirty years after my terrace house Number 16 was built just across the street on Stacy Road
then a fairly new road just tucked in beyond the City walls of solid medieval flint workings.

It was an average day today, whatever day it might happen to be. BB, shuffled about the place playing with Lego bricks, then while preparing patterns his craft-knife came into play as he cut poly card to fit. Opp`s ! he said in wonderment, I`ve cut me thumb.
So while he was re-sticking part A to B ...….

….. in the hall way, come cluttered hobby workshop.



There was a Buzzzzz, and a Bump! A something had arrived.

That's the kind of normal hum drum day I expect from the Beano household. It brightened up my night.

The bridge turned out very well and Your kitchen table makes a very good moat. That pic also shows how these modular pieces can be turned into any kind of castle structure you want.

I bought this on E Bay as a one off pun to cast up.




The novelty of a wee bit more of expressive fun.



My Play Mobil toy walls lay patiently awaiting the rubber to be pushed and finger and thumb into place ,and the way I`ve set up the Lego Bricks will actually help form converted parts for my castle.

Thatched Roof



Match Sticks all in the top row. Windows will be cut out later.



20mm scale timber framed wattle and daub buildings.
The doors and windows set the scale and 20mm and 28mm figures clearly show helpful comparisons.








Parts that make up one timber framed building. A choice of three rooftops pantile,thatch or wooden shingles can be used.

The chain I bought was way to large for the work I intended it for , however I bought smaller iron chain from China, and it arrived by air mail very quickly.



Cheaper than Fish & Chips and lots of it. This will lower and elevate any drawbridge I choose to make.

Meanwhile





Patterns for cloisters are ongoing, and I`ll show the process and results soon as is possible.

Also

A few parts for buildings have been colour-washed, and I hope to show those results too after they have been stuck together and extra painting has been added to them.

So the castle with its complex of buildings is still steaming ahead___ a little bit each day. BB
